Round 5, Day 46

Yesterday was my “day off” this week.  I spent the morning calling the people who do the lumbar punctures who say they don’t have insurance information on hand and we owe them $2,500.  Last month when I got a similar bill I added my insurance information online, to the back of the statement and wrote on the statement that you do have our information because you’ve gone through our insurance on about 7 previous occurrences.  The lady I talked to said every time I have a procedure it creates a new account and some times the insurance information doesn’t get transferred over.  That sounds like a logical way to do things.  I crossed several things off my t0-do list in the morning, which feels really good to do.  That afternoon I had coffee with my friend Erin which ended up lasting over two hours.  It was great to catch up with her, I really needed to get out of the house and have a little girl time!

Our refrigerator died, it had slowly been getting a little warmer the past day or two until Tuesday night we decided it probably wasn’t safe to eat anything out it.   Best Buy had the one that matches our stove on sale so I called to see if they had one in stock and could deliver it today.  They did have one, but couldn’t deliver it until Saturday and that doesn’t really work when you need to keep milk in the house for your baby.  So John and his friend Chris (Wessler) picked it up last night.  Shannon came over to play with Ryan while I emptied out the old fridge, having to throw almost everything away, thankfully the freezer part of the old one still worked so that food was safe.  Kevin came too to help them get the old one out and the new one in.  Then I had to reload it.  I was so tired but at least it’s finished now!

Yesterday was so busy I didn’t have a chance to call Lisha and wish her a Happy Birthday!  So, here’s a shout out a day late.  Today is also Shannon’s birthday!  Happy, Happy!

This morning I had to be at the doctor at 8:15 to get labs to see if I could proceed with my treatment today.  My counts weren’t quite good enough to get the LP (platelets 40, have to be 75) but he did want to proceed with the chemo.  I will get Ara-C or Cytarabine for the next 4 days.  It takes an hour to run and with the pre-meds of anti-nausea medicine it takes at least a couple hours to get in and out of here.  Mom & Dad are coming this weekend so that sucks that I have to go in on the weekend, but at least I’ll be that much closer to maintenance!

  1. I love the graphic in your blog! Doesn’t that just describe “those days” to a tee??? Hang in there! Prayin for ya big time!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  2. Oh my gosh, our fridge crapped out on Tuesday! It was the worst, we lost tons of stuff too. Glad you’re back in business, but if you weren’t I’d say, “Take…luck!” 🙂
