Memorial Day Benefit & Silent Auction

My friend Cassie and cousin Dustin have been planning a benefit for us this upcoming Saturday.  Actually, it’s an entire day full of events!  Most of you who are on Facebook have seen this, but I wanted to share the details with my readership.

Saturday morning from 7AM to 1PM there is a “Treasure Sale” on the corner of National and Chestnut Expressway in Springfield.  It’s an awesome location and I know there have been many generous donations.  Cassie and her husband have been working hard on pricing all of the items and are in need of some volunteers to load it all on a U-Haul Friday night and unload and set up Saturday morning.  If you can help, please email Cassie at cassie.duckett@gmail.com.

Saturday afternoon starting at 12:30 we will be grilling and hanging out at Nichols Park – 1900 W. Nichols.  Burgers, hot dogs, sides & sodas for $5 a plate.  We’re planning on having washers, wiffle ball and maybe even kickball.  For those of you who were interested in playing softball, there weren’t enough people able to commit in order for us to form an organized game.  Maybe go ahead a bring a glove though 🙂  The weather is looking like it’s going to be great for both of these outdoor events,  sunny with a high of 82.

The main event starts at 7PM at the Eagles Lodge at the corner of S. Campbell and Plainview.  The cost is $25/ person and includes a dinner catered by the Pasta House and entertainment provided by Allen Ross.  Tickets can be purchased at the door.  Special thanks to our friend Chris, who runs the Pasta House.  I’ve said it a million times, I don’t know what we’d do without them.  Cassie and Dustin, along with other generous people, have come up with some AMAZING silent auction items.  I know there are lots of people who don’t live in Springfield, or who live here but can’t come because they will be out of town, so I wanted to highlight a few of the bigger items so everyone would have a chance to at least put in a bid if they wanted to.

How it works:  Email Cassie the highest amount you’re willing to bid for an item cduckett@sife.org -by 5PM this Saturday. Please  include the following information in your email:  Name, Address, Phone, Item and description that you are bidding on & highest bid amount.  Your bid will be placed on the bid sheet as the submitted amount. Please note that payment for offsite bidders must be received by Thursday, June 3rd. Once payment is received, the item will be sent.

  2. Laura,

I tried to send a donation yesterday to your giveforward site. Nothing happened. Do I need instructions how to send?

Love you and wonderful news about remission. I love that word right after “cured.”
